Turntable creates Scotch-Irish blend - The Spirits Business

Glasgow-based whisky blender Turntable Spirits has partnered with Irish Dingle Distillery to release its first Scotch-Irish blend.

Released as the second edition in the company’s Collaboration series, the Drop 02: Dingle is Turntable’s 11th release and celebrates the revival of the Irish whiskey tradition.

The expression follows the series’ first edition, a blend with Australian distillery Starward last year. The brand also released Track Six: All My Life last month, as part of a collection inspired by well-known songs.

The new limited edition blend, which marries Irish and Scottish whiskies, will be celebrated with a special launch event on 31 October at Bang & Olufsen’s flagship store on London’s Bond Street. At the event, the whisky will be paired with curated music.

For Collaboration Drop 02: Dingle, Turntable partnered with Dingle Distillery, an independent Irish whiskey maker in County Kerry. Dingle claims to be the first independent distillery to release single pot still whiskey in more than a century.

Gordon Stevenson, co-founder of Turntable, said: “We’re honoured and excited to work with Dingle on this release. Its passion for preserving Irish whiskey tradition aligns perfectly with our ethos of respecting heritage while pushing boundaries in blending.”

The blend is made with 41% single pot still whiskey from Dingle, aged in oloroso Sherry casks.

The Scotch whiskies contributed to the blend include 29% single malt from Balmenach aged in first-fill Pedro Ximénez puncheons, 12% Blair Athol matured in first-fill rye barrels, and 18% grain whisky from Loch Lomond aged in first-fill Bourbon barrels.

Bottled at 52% ABV, the blend is ‘full-bodied and aromatic’ with notes of cigar spices, chocolate raisins, marzipan, nutmeg, and citrus on the palate.

Just as we did with our first Collaboration Drop, which combined Starward’s ex-Australian red wine cask whisky with Scotch, we’ve sought to create a flavour profile that integrates the best of two worlds.”

Collaboration Drop 02: Dingle has a recommended retail price of £85 (US$111) and is limited to 1,800 bottles.

The release will be available in markets including the UK, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands, with plans to expand to France, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Canada, South Korea and Japan.
